Memories of Opryland USA
I’ve been watching a documentary about the Opryland USA theme park (1972 - 1997) that was in Nashville. I get a sick feeling in my stomach during every visit to Opry Mills, the mall that stands on the parks site, and think about the park getting ripped out.
The show is pretty light on details about the history of the park and mostly comprised of former employees and guests. There...

$5 Convenience Charge
Our water & sewer utility billing service charges $5 for pay over the phone with a card. I can deal with that. But they also charge $5 to pay on their website. That, my friends, is a crock of shit. I suspect that they would receive more on time payments without a ridiculous fee.
Thanksgiving 2008
This year Beth & I made the Thanksgiving meal for her family that visited us. For weeks we narrowed down our list of dishes and settled on recipes.
Turkey & Gravy: I have never liked the turkey that I had eaten at family parties. It was always over cooked and shredded into large chunks which makes it very difficult to chew. I choose a recipe from Cook’s...

★★: Watch this if you want to go to a movie but you don’t need to go out of your way to see it.

Four Christmases
★★/★★★
We went to the Belle Meade Plantation yesterday around noon. The grounds are not that impressive but the tour of the mansion was. Photos weren’t allowed inside which was definitely a good thing because I would have been annoyingly snapping and not listening to the tour. Afterwards we spent less than thirty minutes at the antique mall on 8th. I could spend a lot of time there with my camera....
11/28/08 Grand Ole Opry
The Meyers, Beth, & I walked down to the Ryman Auditorium last night for the Friday Night Opry which also was the 83rd anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry. We had decent seats on the first floor. Next time I may look into getting balcony seats.
The show was really great. I learned about a few artists from the past and enjoyed the indescribable feelings associated with...

Missing Run
Yesterday I longed to use my 3 PM work departure and comfortable temperatures to run outside before the sun set. In the 4 o’clock hour I saw the sunset hit a wall near me and I got a little pissy because the selfish actions of a few were keeping me at work and away from the afternoon I had planned. Last night I thought about running this morning. I’m still considering it but...

Guess who’s off work at 1:30? Me. It’s me.
Guess who was supposed to be off at 3 and isn’t? Me. It’s me.

I spent nearly 5 hours today scouring our application for bugs that need to be fixed before Monday. I must add that 30 minutes were spent eating Dominos Oven Baked Subs, which are awesome, and watching the latest episode on Family Guy on hulu.com. Luckily the outstanding tickets shouldn’t require me to stay terribly late. Leaving for a long weekend knowing that your work has been done...

I asked my boss a simple question that I thought had a simple answer. Now I’m tasked with building Rome in a day.
This is why it’s best to work with headphones on and never make eye contact with anyone.
Tagging Along
Another DxR coworker contacted me today asking about ICA and permission to add me as a contact. I expressed to him that I don’t want to work with people I have already worked with. I have moved on. I asked him why he can’t look anywhere else. He got my point and hopefully won’t be pursuing the zero developer openings we have.
Cocktail Party
A signup sheet emerged downstairs today inviting all tenants of the building to a future get-together. I’m very excited to meet more people, especially those living close to me.
Certainty
If I want to talk to coworker I only need to fart. It happens every time.

We never get bothered, and the people are incredibly friendly and easygoing. It really has been a perfect match for me. I don’t want to go on too much about it to the rest of the world because then more people will come here,” she says, laughing. “It’s a secret. Keith keeps saying, ‘Shush, shush, keep this a secret,’ because it’s so beautiful.”

Beth used her incredible persuasion powers to get me to drive to Starbucks after church today so she could get a tea and cookie fix. I did not follow down the familiar path of an iced black tea. I ordered a hot drink! *gasp* A hot drink with coffee in it! *gaspgasp* My Pumpkin Spice Latte was a great treat that that warmed me up before our time in the park shooting photos. I don’t know what...
I got asked for “spare change” as I walked up to an ATM tonight. I said, “No. Sorry.” I don’t think the woman knew where I was going. I made sure she was gone before I walked back to the car.

Netflix Bump
Our Netflix plan of unlimited movies one at a time has been bumped up to two at a time. We spent $4.50 on a Blockbuster movie tonight so we decided that it made sense to spend that money at Netflix. Now we can both have our own queues too.
I suspect that there is going to be a lot of action & chick flick movies for a while.

In.
We stayed in tonight with our mexican food takeout and watched Smart People. I wanted more comedy from the movie but it wasn’t a total waste. For the last 30 minutes we have printed all of our Thanksgiving recipes and compiled a shopping list.
I enjoyed staying in tonight.
