4:30, I Call
I called the recruiter and he is trying to line up another meeting with the employer. Neither of us know what happened. I must seem like the most patient guy in the world but it isn’t like I can afford to not be patient.
4:00, No Call
Would I be an asshole if I said, “Just call me when you’re ready instead of scheduling a time.”?
Pushed to 3:00
I took a longer lunch to prepare & take my phone call. The interviewer called semi-promptly and informed me the he was called into a meeting and would need to push it back to 3pm. He said he would call me at two hours from then (1:30) max. Le sigh.

Mixed Emotions
I’m nervous about my interview today, but not as nervous as I have been for other interviews. I’ve had an uncanny level of confidence in the process so far. I’m not certain if it is because the job description is such a great fit or because this is the first time I’m looking for a job but don’t need to. I’m not cocky but confident in who I am. My goal for the...
Bachelor(ette)Party Story
One of Beth’s sister’s friends is the oldest child of one of my favorite high school teachers, Mr. Walk. After leaving the bar with my high school friends and Mr. Walk’s son, it was decided by a nameless party that calling Mr. Walk at 1 o’clock in the morning would be a good idea. Someone 411’d the phone number, because Alex was not giving it up, and called....
Good Thing I Looked
I got emails this week from the Hilton Family & Choice Hotels about my upcoming reservations in Effingham and St. Louis, respectively. I incorrectly booked our hotel near Lambert for the 3rd and quickly changed the reservation when I read my error in the email. I’m glad I caught it early and didn’t get charged for two nights.
I served six years in the military. Does that make me patriotic? How many years...

Fishy?
I smell fish sticks again. Last time I smelled them at work, I went home and had them for lunch.
Fritz & My 50
Saturday afternoon I practiced shooting with my new lens outside at home. It was only natural to shoot Mom’s dog, Fritz, as he played in the yard and barn.
Shooting manually is difficult but rewarding. I lost a great shot when Fritz walked from inside the barn to the edge where the sun him. I turned around and quickly fire a shot as he looked down on the yard. But when I went to review the...

Good Day
The weather is nice.
I’m enjoying the UI work I’m doing.

The wedding is coming together better than I ever thought.

Poor Beth
Her phone went dead last night as we searched for replacement party goers. She must have turned it off last night before bed to prevent the annoying “My battery is empty! Plug me in!” beeping. As a result she woke up when my alarm went off, 1 hour later. Rushing to work and having a routine interrupted usually isn’t a good way to start a day, especially a Friday. She didn’t...

Regular, Average, & Normal
Yesterday and this morning I have heard a few conversations about the topics of higher food and gas prices that included the terms regular/average/normal Americans/people.
What does that mean?
If people are referring to the middle or lower class, then say that. Reporters and guests on the news never group themselves into the vague terms they use. It reminds of George Carlin, a white man, making...
Backing Up Photos
Months ago I attempted to back up my photos online. (It is amazing how a hard drive failure can motivate you.) I gave up after many days because the upload was taking forever (I think my library is around gigabytes.) and seemed to re-upload data that was already there. But after hearing a friend get some relative success, I have tried again.
Yesterday morning I figured up JungleDisk and Aperture...
Bachelor(ette) Party
Beth & I don’t have a lot of close friends. It is a problem we’ve talked about and can contribute to many factors, mostly because we didn’t stay at any school for four years and weren’t social butterfies at SIUC because we were living together and knew many people here that were from the Effingham area. The lack of many close friends made planning our respective...
Roxy: jason is scared of catholics and he won't go. he got real nervous at hilarys wedding because of the kneeling and he didn't know what to do and felt awk.
Tyler: just tell him to sit in the back and follow along. It's like simon says
Roxy: those were my exact words. sit in back and you dont even have to stand up. no one will care. the pope has left the country

Tyler: 2x agreed.
Roxy: carry on wise tyler
Polite Obligations
How many times are your obligated to smile and laugh when your boss makes a comment about my wedding being “the end” or other stupid comments like that?
I may not know what the official count is, but the next time I will have to speak up and inform him that his jaded view of marriage is not needed.
Wedding Weather
I’ve been making a point to not worry about the weather for the wedding. There isn’t a damn thing I can do about it and nothing would change even if I knew it was going to snow.
But I still check it out daily. I’ve seen highs from 60-80 with either sunshine, cloudiness, or rain. Crazy weather…
Look Up!
Yeah… that is my Facebook status. It’s no big deal…
Gas $ Changes
There are two gas stations next to the building I work in. Occasionally an employee will come in and inform the crew that one station has increased the price of gas to $x.xx and then educate us about when Station #1 is likely to increase its prices based on past increases. Unless it is jumping $5/gallon, I really don’t care. Prices suck everywhere and I don’t want to allocate any room...

Phrases Men Use
Shut the fuck up. This means “shut the fuck up.” I’m ready. Men use this to indicate they are “ready.” Nothing. This literally means “nothing.” We’re not desperately holding anything emotional in, we just want you to drop whatever it is that you’re babbling about so we can get back to the television without distraction. Go Ahead. This is loving encouragement, not a dare. Please do it! ...
Funeral Wish

Wedding Programs
I’ve remained tight-lipped about our wedding plans but today I’m going to share a little about the wedding programs. Please don’t take offense if my opinions differ from the programs you have or will have.
Programs are definitely not required for the ceremony, just as so many other parts of day are not required. But they do provide something to read while waiting for the...
