Great Day, Great Evening

New Job First
I have already received my first check. Words cannot explain how nice it is to not have to wait one month for some green. But words can explain how nice it is to get paid for a single week and it be very comparable to the previous checks that covered two weeks of work. I think those words would be “Saa Weeet!”

An Expected, Disappointing Day
Today was not as good as the prior three but I expected it. I was pushed out on my own to do work without being spoon fed. I looked forward to this but it wasn’t as sweet as I anticpated. Our future landlord told me that she will not be able to close on the apartment on the scheduled day. This pushes our move in date back up to a week but everyone involved is really flexible. I wasn’t crazy about leaving Carbondale last night. I wasn’t dreading the drive; I didn’t want to leave Beth for a week. I was putting off leaving so much that I cleaned my car’s dashboard even though I haven’t touched since last Fall… at best. Final Lunch
7 people joined me for lunch at Great Wall. If my closest coworkers wouldn’t have been hung over and at home, we would have had two more. I was really happy to see a group go to lunch instead of just the programmers.
It was way better than cake, especially on a day when many are out.

Good News
Google Calendar has failed to import my iCal calendars for the last week. So I did a little searching and found an app named Spanning Sync which has imported my calendars. Life will not end after tomorrow. Now I need to double check that all of my Mail folders have been synced with my IMAP accounts.
Bad News
Grills are not allowed on the apartments balcony. It looks like me and The Griddler will be bestest friends.

I had a question for the my temporary “home” in Nashville. So I gave the hotel a buzz and spoke with Cindy. She was the achieved a perfect level of niceness and informativenessnessology. I wish every experience I had with a company was just like that phone call.

I swung by Panera this morning to treat my coworkers to bagels. They have been well received thus far. I suspect it could get hairy when those who arrive later will be forced to choose between the plain and blueberry breeds. I grabbed a cinnamon crunch immediately to avoid that choice.
