Best. Brownies. Ever.
Tonight I made the best brownies ever. Stop it. Don’t believe the batch you made last year for that bake sale was better. It wasn’t.
Cracking the Code to Chewy Brownies was published in the last Cook’s Illustrated. They documented the long process of duplicating the success of boxed brownie mixes. I have wanted to attempt my own brownies for months and was thrilled to see the...

jam jam: Class reunion planning is such a bitch.... →
Class reunion planning is such a bitch. Michelle’s the only person who’s really given me any input and everyone else has whined about it. I made a fucking Facebook group so people could say shit like, “Oh hey I’m gonna be out of town this entire week, maybe not then?” and “It costs $X to rent this…
My advice is to ignore the suggestions, set a date, and make it as cheap as possible. The...

Two types of chicken sausages are down for lunch with eggs, grape tomatoes, and toast.
Parking is so scarce that I had to drop Beth off to pick up our mouse as I drove around. I finally got parked but she already bought it. The good news is that I only got flipped off once.

I have the urge to write about my life on a more personal level. But I there are very few thoughts deep enough for a separate post.
We have very little planned this weekend. My mom asked what we were doing last night and all I could tell her is that we plan on bringing recycling down. Since that call we have decided to visit the flea market to buy a new toy for my desk and something for Holly.

I wanted to stay away from Holiday World this season but the allure of a good waterpark I haven’t visited in years that will have a water coaster, new Timberline trains on The Voyage, and the prospect of seeing friends from afar may be too much to pass up.

Me: Skinny Tyler rejects your observation but Fat Tyler appreciates it.
Bullshit Cutting
It is refreshing to take a step back from the layers of bullshit and communicate honestly. I see people scared to have conversations because of a lack of understanding. Why don’t we lay out our thoughts more often.
My coworkers and I agreed this week that more feelings need to be hurt. We may sound like assholes but we want success as much as the rest.
Your bug is not interesting, funny, super-duper crazy. Don’t try buttering up a developer with ideas of a challenging problems we will put at the top of our priority list. You’re not special.
The mistakes of others force me to make Fat Tyler happy.
Bad Ideas
I have a hard time hold back my opinions about ideas I perceive as a bad, especially when they involve me indirectly and other individuals are on board. I think about how choices will impact the future or how an idea is going to hold up over time. I want to speak up because I have a better different idea but no one asked me. I don’t hesitate to comment if I’m affected directly. Until...

Still enjoying the Esquire article.
This article provides great insight to Ebert’s current life. It gave a nice summary of his life and the medical problems that forced him out of the balcony. I need to follow his blog.

– Doing More With Less: Minimalist Software
I have been evaluation TaskPaper, simple to-do list software for Mac & iPhone, over the past week. I have looked into other software but got turned off by excess of features. TaskPaper handles everything I need in lists. I look forward to buying the...

Shae's First Birthday Party
We celebrated Shae’s first birthday this weekend at a ladybug themed party at her house. Her closest relatives showered her with many toys. She told me later the ladybug sandbox Beth & I bought her was her favorite. Our card read:
Sandbox Rule #1: Don’t let cats in. Sandbox Rule #2: Don’t eat the clumps.
I wish I would have her all to myself but I also enjoyed seeing her...

Effingham
We made it home in 4:20 last night. Sleet started falling 5 miles out and appears to have continued through the night. Beth is getting a trim now while I wait for an oil change. I think we’re going to pick up donuts from Martin’s. I have been craving an apple fritter as well as Pizza Man, Homewood, and a handfull of other hometown treats.
