Walnut & Beef
The smell of walnut wood takes me back to my high school’s shop. I think about the large workbenches that held the desk, shelves, plastic key ring accessory I made. The scary planer that did more bad work than good stands in the middle of the room near the table saw that was equally as scary. The radial arm saw my dad & I believe was used during his tenure finally cut off some fingers in...

Headlight Update Update
I found the retaining clips I needed on Amazon for $5. Free Prime shipping makes it the obvious solution.  Ironically I found that the outer plastic shell of the Tiburon’s parking is missing. The light inside is intact and I see so damage on the bumper. I think it just fell off.

A weekend plan was to shoot Nolan’s one-year photos. I bought a backdrop stand with a birthday Amazon gift card and planned on picking up a 9’ roll of seamless paper from Dury’s. I stopped by this week to get a little roll but balked after seeing it and thinking how difficult it would be to fit a squirmy baby on. I returned today and they were out of the rolls I saw on the...

Headlight Update
The caulk failed as I expected. I’m found the piece I need online but may visit a salvage yard. Replacement lights are too expensive either but I don’t know if they include the piece I need. I am waiting for that answer.

My dad taught me you may not have the right tool but you can always get the job done. However I’m certain he never taught me to use shower caulk to hold in a headlight when the cheap, plastic clip disintegrates during light replacement. There may be packing tape around the headlight right now as the caulk dries. Just may be…

70 degree night. Yes! I’ll walk to The Local Taco with you, Beth. Perhaps I will enjoy the Korean BBQ (with kimchi) and Fried Catfish tacos. Margaritas and a buzzed walk back? Yes!

Required Complaining. I left the office around 6 and got back to working at 7:30. It’s close to 1 but I’m almost done. At least I got some quality time with Nolan while I was away from this screen. Seeing him so happy to take a bath makes my day. Even Beth said, “How can that not make you forget about your day?”

The Catbird Seat Experience
I have hesitated summarizing my feelings formally because I’m scared I won’t do justice to the experience. But if I don’t share now I won’t ever.  First, I have uploaded all of my photos from the night on Flickr. I have detailed descriptions (as best as I could provide) of the food and beverage pairings. I’m not going to walk through the night here so I suggest...

I don’t have the energy to describe the latest house problem in detail because they all have the same components. But I do need to share something so that when I want to leave next fall I can go back and see all the reasons why we should. Landlord called me on Thursday morning after Metro Water Services called him. The meter said that we are keeping a whale alive in our basement or there is...

WatchWatch
I watched Lana Del Rey perform on SNL weeks ago and hated her performance. I don’t think I have ever disliked a musical performance so much. Her pitch changed so much that I couldn’t take her seriously. I said on replied to someone on Twitter shortly after watching. I had to search her and was happy to see the LA Times agree with my opinions. WTF was that? Then I saw the album drop...
