A Facebook friend just questioned if funnel cakes & elephant ears are the same thing. Those of you gasping are my true friends. I had to educate this poor soul by explaining the following:
Regardless of what Wikipedia says they are different in my opinion. A funnel cake is made with a funnel or pitcher where runny dough is poured into grease. But an elephant ear is fried, thin dough. The Red Barn stand at the fair puts a cinnamon and sugar blend on their elephant ears, not that nasty powdered sugar.
I’m not ashamed that I explained this. The world needs to know that elephant ears are superior but sadly rare.
