Swype vs. iPhone typing

The Swype typing system was created by the inventor of T9, the predictable text input system that most phones use today. I have no problem with typing on the iPhone but I think this Swype technology definitely has a future in touchscreen smart phones.

Anyone who has used an iPhone for more than 15 minutes will be able to tell you that they can type much faster than the person on the right who seems to be hunting for the keys like they don’t know the layout of a standard keyboard so take the speed comparison with a grain of salt.

People will always be looking for a better, more efficient way of entering text on their phone. Swype may be the next big innovation in text input.

I wanted to scoff at the idea but I’m impressed and very interested. I’m still getting used to the iPhone’s keys, especially in portrait mode. I tend to do my best when I don’t look for letters. Maybe I should tape a paper over my hands like Mrs. Braunecker did to my classmates & I in the 7th grade.
