Bachelor(ette) Party
Beth & I don’t have a lot of close friends. It is a problem we’ve talked about and can contribute to many factors, mostly because we didn’t stay at any school for four years and weren’t social butterfies at SIUC because we were living together and knew many people here that were from the Effingham area. The lack of many close friends made planning our respective “last night” parties difficult.
After discussing both of our needs, we gravitated towards a single party since we shared some close friends. We discussed renting a box at Busch Stadium and hitting the wine trails before we settled on driving to The Big Bang dueling piano bar in St. Louis. Beth & I were there with another couple in December 2006. It was one of the best times I have had at a bar. Maybe it was because I achieved the perfect level of drunkeness.
We have been faced with a few problems along the way. Beth wanted the party to be after her sister’s 21st birthday, which was this week. This Saturday also is the birthday of Beth’s cousin, who is planning our party. So it was natural for these two to invite their own group of friends. Beth & I really don’t care who is there as long as they are fun people.
This week has been busy for us as we have had to hunt down some people to ensure they are going and are willing to pay. Unfortunately two people have backed out which left us under our monetary mark. With four possible seats left we would be forced to beg our friends for some cash to pay the drivers and the gas. We really needed to fill the seats. Tonight we talked to Beth’s sister and asked her if she had any other friends to fill the seats. She immediately came through by filling our spots with four French students. Then we found out that a fifth friend, whom we thought couldn’t go, actually can go. Tonight we had to decide to take a person who we don’t have a legal seat for or take a loss. We’ve chosen to fill the seats + 1 and not bother our friend by begging for extra money. Hopefully they understand the full vans are saving them and us money.
I am looking forward to playing drunken air guitar and drunk tabletop piano to Journey.
