More Injuries
Tonight was our second kickball game (4-8 loss) with Beth’s coworkers. I hurt all over after last week’s game till Sunday morning. I think most of the feeling was caused by a fall on my back as I ran backwards to catch a fly ball. There was a little pain in my legs that I’m confident would have been avoided with proper footwear. My new cleats will be here Friday.
Tonight I fucked my right hip by planting my right foot and then twisting too far. I have a lot of pain in the joint when I rotate my leg. I guess this pain will dampen my kick drum movements tomorrow under my desk.
The umpire mentioned a lot of teams have injuries that he blamed on a lack of stretching. Now I’m convinced I need to spend ten minutes and stretch my body properly. I thought I could do it in 60 seconds like I do for running or cycling. This sport, like many others, results in unpredictable body movements. You think I would have learned after all of those years playing.
Tonight’s Tyler highlights:
- I had a couple of good kicks and scored twice.
- I had the ball a couple feet away from a running between bases. Instead of being a dick and throwing the ball hard, I lightly tossed it at him. (I won the sportsmanship away on my khoury league team.) He was able to avoid the toss and made it back to the base. Next time I will have no mercy.
- I stopped a ball flying over my head. It bounced on the ground and hit me in the head as I came back down. Everyone made sure I was alright and announced only my pride was hurt.
- Two puppies were in the
dugoutkennel.
