Hockey Game Recap

Beth & I had a great time at the game last night with my coworker and an employee of Dolphini, the owner of the seats. We were given a parking pass for the lot right across from the “Premium Seating Entrance” which was better than paying $10, fighting traffic, and squeezing into a parking spot that two motorcycles would have a problem fitting in.

The All Inclusive Area looked like a little club with a section for food to the left of the entrance, a very long bar to the right, and 4-top-tables to sit and others to stand at behind ours. There was also a section of seats below us accessible by steps. We met the Dolphini employee at their table, #1, which was exactly center ice from the end. It felt good that the hostess at the door said “Oh you’ll be sitting with Michael tonight.” If they knew this guy by name he must be important and nice. Actually our guy was filling in for a sick Michael but was also really nice and had only been with the company for 2 weeks. My coworker said he looked like Jeff Foxworthy and I couldn’t agree more.

The only free beer was Bud Light so I decided to pay for a bottle of Sam Adams at first then I learned it was $6.50/bottle so I went back to the small cups of Bud Light. There was two types of lettuce, potato, and pea salad to eat. There were also types of pot pie fillings for spooning over puff pastry bowls. Rounding out the food was hot dogs, brats, pork tenderloin, cheese, & fruit. Over near there bar there were desserts, nachos, and popcorn. Usually the crew gets there at 6 but we had to wait for Beth to get back into town from work.

I was told yesterday that Phoenix & Nashville are rivals and I assumed it was because their mascot is a coyote (dog) and ours a giant cat. That makes sense to me. There were some good hits, a few great plays, and a lot of excitement. Photography from that high at with a true 200mm is worthless but now I know how low I’ll have to be to capture something close enough. I don’t have a strong interest in sports photography but I would love to be able to shoot down on the ice through the holes in the glass. I suspect those aren’t seats you can buy.

After the game we quickly made it back to Palmer to drop of my coworker. While there us three went up to our suite and showed Beth around for the first time. It isn’t as impressive at night so I need to make a point to get her back up her again to see the city.
