6:30-6:38 Blog pinned tweets from my email’s news feed

6:38 Intercept warm bottle from the kitchen and greet Nolan in a positive way. No one wants to be woken up by a Negative Nancy.

6:38-6:43 Suck. Down. Bottle. I add commentary about the weather outside and ask how the night went for him.

6:43-6:50 Quiet cuddling. We also prioritize Nolan’s agenda today and acknowledge any conflicts. (Someone keeps booking play time with the sensory balls during his social hour near the crib.)

6:50-7:00 Dress Nolan in the clothes that Beth laid out. Near the end of this task I told him, “Maybe the dingo ate your baby.” He didn’t respond. I repeated. He didn’t respond. I crossed it off my mental list of jokes.

7:00 Place Nolan in the living room amongst his toys.

7:00-7:05 Prepare daily bottles, sippy cups, & snacks. Load them in his bag.

7:05 Label pacifier with Sharpie. I’m surprised we don’t have to label Nolan himself.

7:05-7:07 Adorn skip on shoes and hoodie over my shorts. Go outside and start Beth’s car.

7:07 The daddy-force tells me that Nolan is close to the front door. I open it enough to peek my head in. Baby location confirmed. The Daddy-force is strong today.

7:08-7:10 Beth reminds me of her request for a salad. I whip up a little baby herb mix, feta, walnuts, balsamic vinaigrette. Beth packages some of the peanut butter pretzel bites I bought at Publix Sunday night.

7:10 Nolan has made his way into the kitchen.

7:10-7:15 Scoop up Nolan. Find hat and coat. Apply hat and coat to baby.

7:15 All three of us walk outside. I load Nolan in the backseat and confirm with Beth all of the items I placed in his bag. Kisses and good-byes.

This may have been today’s routine but it is very similar to every weekday. I try to jump in the shower immediately after they leave and not gaze into Matt Lauer’s eyes. Sometimes I sit down and continue to send reblogged retweeted shared pins.

Here is a map of the districts of Panem from The Hunger...

Here is a map of the districts of Panem from The Hunger Games novels. I don’t think I have ever disliked a musical performance so much. Her pitch changed so much that I couldn’t take her seriously. I said on replied to someone on Twitter shortly after watching.

I had to search her and was happy to see the LA Times agree with my opinions. WTF was that?

Then I saw the album drop on Rdio and I have listened to it repeatedly since. I enjoy so many tracks, especially while working. The music is too depressing to play on a road trip due but it is a perfect soundtrack for concentrated work at a desk.

I’m amused by the following lyrics in “Diet Mountain Dew”.

Let’s take Jesus off the dashboard
Got enough on his mind

The price, higher than typical Ryman shows, deterred us. $120 plus dinner and a babysitter becomes a very expensive evening. We both recognize their talent and that the concerts will be epic but they’re not for us.

Beth said, “You passed on Coldplay & The Dave Matthews Band. You can pass on these guys.” She is right. However, I won’t pass on them again.

Saturday Night Pebbles (Taken with instagram)

Saturday Night Pebbles (Taken with instagram)

neubaby:

Nolan’s new ride. Straps are off a bit so he’s pissed in the picture.

We bought a jogging stroller/bicycle carrier last night from a lovely family via Craigslist. After last night’s transaction I am am beginning to see a stark difference in Craigslist transactions that between nuclear families and especially when the goods are baby related.

My first example is Nolan’s crib, dresser, & changing table. I was invited to the kids bedroom and even assisted in disassembly. I interacted with the kids and talked to the father about Nashville & cycling as we loaded my car. Last night the father welcomed me at the door, introduced me to both dogs, and introduced me to both children. The mother pointed out every flaw and gave me more details than I need to know. I returned my stack of bills to my pocket multiple times as she kept talking.

Compare this with selling my Nikon D40 camera. I met them in a parking garage. The buyer, a young woman, was accompanied by a male friend. The transaction may have taken 2 minutes. When I bought a cheap camera flash it went down in a Shoney’s parking lot near the airport. It was very creepy.

The transactions that go down at my home never as open as these families made theirs. I brought the products down to the street at Werthan and display them outside at the house. I don’t actively think about protecting my family; I’m just wired to keep people out. I read a tweet recently that proclaimed all Craigslist transactions are creepy. I generally agree with that but doing business with families is a more positive experience.

Beth gave me the green light to procure tickets to see Mumford & Sons at The Ryman. :-)

Beth gave me the green light to procure tickets to see Mumford & Sons at The Ryman. :-)

neubaby:
